Pamela Claire Ratliff Hinkle

Jesus embraced Pamela Claire Ratliff Hinkle on March 9, 2023, by taking her to heaven, where she will be welcomed by many loved ones, especially her Daddy who she loved so dearly. She was born in Richlands, Virginia on October 4, 1957, to Ruby Fern Ratliff and the late Harless Clair “H.C.” Ratliff. Pam was a graduate of Garden High School in 1975; she was a registered nurse and Director of the Diabetes Program at Buchanan General Hospital. She was also an instructor for Eli Lilly Pharmaceutical Company, a Certified Diabetes Educator, and the founder of the Diabetes Day Camp. She loved going to her grandchildren’s ballgames and visiting the beach, and she never missed a family gathering or holiday. She was the treasurer for many years for the democratic party, she was a dedicated RN and she loved her patients very much. Pam served on the Buchanan County Electoral Board for over 10 years. Pam felt privileged and honored to be a member of the Wilderness Tabernacle Church. Pam and Monroe Hinkle were married on June 20, 1975. Together, they set a beautiful example of true and forever, unconditional love, and what marriage should be. In addition to her loving husband, Monroe, left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Stephanie (Mike) Webb and their children, Brodrick Seth, Kendell Sage and Mia Clair of Pounding Mill, Virginia; son Harless Chase (Jessica) Hinkle and their son, Hunter of Conaway, Virginia Sisters, Debi (Harold) Malcolm of Salem, Virginia; Joann (Teddy) Wolford of Troutville, Virginia; and Ginger (Pierre) Dionne of Roanoke, Virginia Brother, Todd (Jeannie) Ratliff of Christiansburg, Virginia Pam was preceded in death by her father Harless Clair “H.C” Ratliff. Several nieces and nephews also survive her. Special Friend, Pam Rife of Grundy, Virginia Seven years ago, Pam was given six months to live with the offer for hospice care at home. Rather than quit at that time, Pam displayed great strength and courage in her fight for life to savor every moment with loved ones. Despite her illness, Pam never missed a family gathering or holiday and continued giving to others, especially those less fortunate. Funeral services Pamela Clair Ratliff Hinkle will be conducted Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at 2 pm at Hurst-Scott Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Billy Harrison and Pastor Johnny Rowe officiating. Friends may call from 12 noon until 2 pm at the funeral home prior to the service. Entombment will follow at Greenhills Memory Garden in Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be her nephews.
