Patricia "Trish" Ann Johnson

Patricia “Trish” Ann Green Johnson age 55, of Tazewell, Virginia, went to her heavenly home on August 19, 2023, peacefully in her home with her family by her side. Trish was born on January 20, 1968, in Tazewell, Virginia, and was the daughter of Nancy Green Sparks and the late Harold Sparks. Trish was a wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend to all. She was of the Christian faith and had attended the Tazewell Community Worship Center. Trish had worked for many years as a Fiscal Technician for the Virginia Department of Corrections. She was always helping others and was referred to as the “neighborhood sheriff,” always watching out for the neighborhood and checking on others. She loved to bake and then take it to the newcomers, the elderly, and sick and shut ins. She would offer her help by taking others to appointments, doing dog sitting, and so much more. Trish was what everyone would have wanted in a neighbor and a friend. There will never be another one like her. During Trish’s illness, she never gave up the fight and she was so encouraging to others around her. She was always a light in the darkness and any time she was asked how she was doing, she would reply, “I am good”. She fought a hard fight, and in the end, she said it was meant for her to be with Jesus, and that he would take me home. Those that will carry on her fighting and loving spirit are her: Husband, Charles “Mike” Johnson Mother, Nancy Green Sparks Children: Adam Herald and his wife, Erica Crissy Blankenship and her husband, Cecil Kathy Penley Brother, Junior Sparks and his wife Sherri Grandchildren, Alessia Herald, Kimberly, Karrie, and Kathryn Blankenship; Rachel and Robbie Penley. Her dear canine companion, Ace Nephew, Zachary Sparks, several aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends also survive. The family would like to thank MSA Hospice and sincerely thank her nurses, Drema, Teresa, Courtney, Paula, and Paige, for all their help and support. Also, express gratitude to her around-the-clock caregivers Donna, Tammy, Judy, Crissy, and Kathy. The funeral service will be at 12:00 on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Tazewell Virginia, with the Rev. Jonah Sparks officiating. Interment will follow at the Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield with friends and family serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 AM on Tuesday until the time of service.
