Patricia Jean Vernon

Patricia Jean Wells Vernon, age 78, of Raven, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2024 in a Richlands, Virginia hospital. She was born in Richlands, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Cecil Wells and Emyle Green Wells. She was a life long resident of the area and was the retired Insurance Department Director from Jewell Coal and Coke Company. She was a graduate of Honaker High School and was a member of the City on a Hill Church. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend to all who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard “Rick” Vernon; son, Brandon Vernon; brother, James Aaron Wells; and nephew, Jonathan Wells. Survivors are: Son: Randy Vernon and wife, Laura of Raven, Virginia Sister: Alesia (Lisa) Israel and husband, Tony of Bristol, Virginia Brothers: John Wells of Abingdon, Virginia Doug Wells and wife, Lola of Abingdon, Virginia Granddaughter: Baleigh Vernon and her mother, Sarah Carty Special Brother in Law: Harry Vernon; Special Sister in Law: Shirley Wells; a host of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Special Friends: Monell Breedlove; Rita Williams; Iris Webb; Patricia Farmer; Rose Harris, and Lorraine Salyers Special Thanks to the Nurses and Staff of Clinch Valley Medical Center and Dr. Kenneth McVey and Dr. Ramesh Kabaria. Funeral services for Patricia Jean Vernon will be conducted Friday, May 31, 2024 at 1pm at the City on a Hill Church in Pounding Mill, Virginia with the Rev. Barry Absher officiating. Entombment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be: Larry Sizemore, Gary Sizemore, Rusty Herndon, Terry Addison, Bryce Addison, Sean Phillips, and John Humphries. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Steve Miller, Ezra Harris, Bill Rhodes, Bob Elkins, Tanner Elkins, and Harry Vernon.
