Pauline Dye Addington

Janie “Pauline” Dye Addington, 92, of Richlands, VA, joined her Heavenly choir on July 21, 2026, at Bristol Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. A true angel on earth and a light of the gospel. She will be remembered for singing beautiful and joyful praises to the Lord by all who knew her. Saved in a barn at age 15 years old, Pauline had a job on earth to spread the love of Jesus, and she was a true example of Christ until her last breath. Pauline attended church all of her life and was a member of Richlands First Assembly of God for 48 years, where she was loved as part of the worship team and choir. She deeply cherished her ministry of playing music, singing, and spending time with her friends at Raven Assembly of God during Young at Heart meetings. Waiting to greet his beautiful and loving bride of 69 1/2 years into her eternal home, is her husband, Jack Dempsey Addington Sr. Along with her parents, Elbert and Ella Mae Dye, and her brothers and sister. Her great- grandson, Zion Sarmiento, great-great-grandson, Reign Javier, along with many angel babies, will get to be embraced by their loving grandmother forevermore. Pauline, along with her husband, Dempsey, lovingly raised their children in the Grundy and Richlands, VA area, where they were local business owners. Pauline enjoyed spending time with her family and having them all together for holidays and family dinners. She was a wonderful cook who loved to travel and go on shopping trips. Pauline’s biggest accomplishment and greatest pride was raising her family to be deeply rooted in their faith. She led by example and lived to see all of her children serve the Lord. Pauline’s heart’s desire was for her family to continue her ministry, live with integrity, and seek first the kingdom of God. She was a true warrior, and her family rejoices in knowing she has finally heard “Well done, thy good and faithful servant”. Left to uphold and continue her legacy are her children, Debra Addington Sutherland and husband, Bobby; Karen Addington Cruey and husband, Eddie; Jack Dempsey Addington Jr. and wife, Kathy; Donna Addington Johnson and husband, Harold; and Angela Addington Jones and husband, Bobby. 14 grandchildren and their spouses and one fiancé, 25 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren. Her sister, Alice Roberts; sister-in-law, Janet Addington; and brother-in-law, Maze Joyce. Special caregiver, Brooke Lawson, and many nieces and nephews Funeral services for Janie “Pauline” Dye Addington will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Friday, July 24, 2026, at Richlands First Assembly; 151 Flat Top Rd, Richlands, VA, with Rev. Buddy Hearld and Pastor Dusty Vandyke officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens, Claypool Hill, VA. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
