Pauline K. Reedy

Pauline Keen Reedy 82, devoted and loving wife to the late James William Reedy, passed away on January 26, 2023. She was a Richlands High School graduate, class of 1959. Later in life, she went back to school attending Southwest Virginia Community College earning multiple associate degrees, while working full-time and maintaining the Dean's List consistently. She worked for the Richlands National Bank as a bank teller, Pittston Coal as an executive secretary, and then for the Tazewell County Commissioner of Revenue as a deputy clerk for seventeen and a half years until she retired. James and Pauline made their home in the Richlands area and resided there all of their life. They leave behind two daughters: Melinda Gail Varney and husband Glenn Allen Varney of Rosedale, Virginia, and Angela Michelle Davis and husband Michael Ray Davis of Cedar Bluff, Virginia. Pauline grew up in Redroot Ridge of Buchannan County, having two sisters, the late Lola Wells of Richlands, Virginia, and Corda Lee Stech, and her late husband Dave Stech of Fredericksburg, Virginia. One brother, the late Walter Keen of Richlands, Virginia. Pauline went to live with the family of the late Reverend Carl Wright Robinson and his wife Dorthy Elma Brown Robinson when her mother became ill. She resided with the Robinsons. from the age of 13 until the age of 28 when she married James. She gained four sisters, the late Bonnie Carol Robinson of Richlands, Virginia, Mary Ruth Vandyke Smith and husband Donnie of Richlands, Virginia, Nancy Naomi Campbell and husband Lynn of Richlands, Virginia, and Emily Carlene Altizer and husband Reverend Michael Altizer of Richlands, Virginia. It was. during those years, God placed her where the church was a priority and where she was taught of the Lord. Pauline was blessed with four beautiful grandchildren Aaron Brandon Reedy and his wife, Amanda Nicole Reedy of Richlands, Virginia, Nikki Weaver and husband Jon Weaver of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Madison Nicole Varney of Rosedale, Virginia, and Morgan Elyse Varney of Rosedale, Virginia. She also had three great-grandchildren she adored, Olivia Grace Paxon of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Hudson Michael Boden Weaver of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Archer Grant Reedy of Richlands, Virginia. Pauline loved her family deeply and passionately, just as she did her friends! But there was one whom her heart loved above all else…God! Pauline was also a member of the Raven Assembly of God church for nearly 45 years where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. At a young age, she dedicated herself to God and living to make sure heaven would someday be her home. Sundays were for church and family dinners. Rising first, she would prepare a feast fit for a king and would make sure each and every plate was filled to enjoy. She loved to cook delicious meals and desserts for her family to enjoy. If anyone was sick, hurt, or in need, her first line of defense was always prayer. And rest assured, she stayed in prayer until the answer came. A giant in the faith, suited in armor, and always carrying the sword in her hand. She loved to share her love for Christ and has won many souls for the Lord. Her soul ached to think anyone would be lost and dying without Christ. She loved to be outside, gardening, sewing, and decorating. Pauline was so talented and never had a quit in her. She had the determination to succeed and would never let failure be a part of her equation. If it was done, it had to be done right the first time. She always said, “time is a commodity- if you don't use it wisely- it will use you.” During the last several months of being in the hospital, fighting and working so hard to overcome sickness, death gave way to everlasting and eternal life. Pauline is safely home, just across the Jordan where there are no more tears, no more suffering, and where those feet have run across streets of pure gold, bowing at the feet of Jesus. And also to her best friend in the whole wide world, Peggy Kelly. Funeral services for Pauline K. Reedy will be conducted Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at 12 pm at the Raven Assembly of God Church in Raven, Virginia with the Rev. Doug Johnson and Rev. Tim Lester officiating. Entombment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers.
