Peggy Evelue

Peggy Evelue Perkins Cox, age 71, of Kernersville, NC, formerly of Richlands, Virginia passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 in Winston Salem, NC. She was born in Davenport, VA and was the daughter of the late Joe and Ollie Keen Perkins. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grand mother. She was a fulltime homemaker and had dedicated her life to caring for her family. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, James Presley; one sister; two brothers, sister-in-law, Shirley Perkins and brother-in-law John Compton. Those who remain to carry on her spirit are: Her loving husband of 27 years, Andrew Danny Cox of Kernersville, NC Daughter: Gail Presley Mitchell and husband Leslie of Winchester, VA Sons: Dexter Presley and special companion Theresa martin of Oak Hill, WV Joe Presley and wife Jeanie of Cedar Bluff, VA Step-daughter, Tabitha Slate of Richlands, VA Step-son, Daniel Proffitt of Richlands, VA Sisters: Joe Ann Compton of Springfield, VA Audrey Harris and husband Kenneth of Cedar Bluff, VA Brothers: Jerry D. Perkins and wife, Betty of Vansant, VA Grayson Perkins of Vansant, VA Clayton Perkins and Ann of Vansant, VA Jackie Perkins and wife Joyce of Abingdon, VA Grandchildren: Neal Mitchell and Fiancée, Elizabeth: Adam Mitchell; Clinton Presley; Zachary Scott; Tara Fishel; Misty Presley and Lyndsay Scott. Great grandchildren: Katlyn Deel, Whitney Mitchell, Neal Mitchell, Jr., Haylie Mitchell, Alexander Mitchell and Madison Scott. Also surviving are brother-in-laws Ernie and Judy Cox, Bill and Wanda Cox, Tommy and Glenna Cox; sisters-in-law, Bonnie and Mike Floyd, Connie Coleman, Ruth and Mike Nelson and Nancy and John McGhee. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral Services for Peggy Evelue Cox will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia, with the Rev. Ancil Childress, and Rev. Bobby Laney. Interment will follow at the Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be grandsons, nephews and Tommy Cox.
