Rachel Mitchell

Rachel Wanda Mitchell, age 63 of Baptist Valley, VA died Friday, September 04, 2009 at Carillion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA. Born May 20, 1946 in Tazewell County, VA she was a daughter of the late Noah Boothe and Mallie Grizzle Boothe Bradley. She attended the Amonate Freewill Baptist Church at Amonate, VA and was a lady who enjoyed sewing, working in her flower garden, and decorating her home. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Ralph Bradley; her first husband, Kenneth Earls, Sr. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of eleven years, Billy E. Mitchell; one daughter, Wanda Coon and husband, Pete of Mt. Airy, NC; one son, Kenneth Earls, Jr. and wife, Cherie of Mt. Airy, NC; two step-daughters, Karen London and Sandra Mitchell, both of Massachusetts; five sisters, Hazel Howery, and Peggy Lowe and husband, Ralph, all of North Tazewell, VA, Susie Honaker and husband, Russell and Patsy Howery, all of Baptist Valley, VA, and Nancy Childress and husband, Ramon of Dry Fork, VA; one brother, Larry Boothe and wife, Sharon of Florida; one half-brother, Charlie Grizzle and wife, Velma of Martinsville, VA; four grandchildren, Christopher Coon and wife, Angie, Krystle Coon, and Damein Earls, all of Mt. Airy, NC, and Danny Earls of Sandy Ridge, NC; four step-grandchildren, Sheila Parker of Boonville, NC, Jimmy Coon of Walkertown, NC, Amber Young of Mt. Airy, NC, and Anthony Joyce of Sandy Ridge, NC; two great-grandchildren, Dakota Coon and Alex Coon both of Mt. Airy, NC; her special pet, Candy; several nieces, nephews, other family members and many loving friends. Funeral services for Rachel Wanda Mitchell will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 7, 2009 at Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Tazewell, VA with Pastor Russell Honaker and Pastor Ronnie Grizzle officiating. Burial will follow at the Woodall Family Cemetery in the Grassy Spur community of Bandy, VA. Pallbearers will be Christopher Coon, Jerry Boothe, Daniel Lowe, Jesse Childress, Russell Honaker, II, and Ray Childress. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 – 9 p.m. Sunday, September 6, 2009.
