Randal Perry Meadows

Randal Perry Meadows, 45, passed away February 7, 2013. He was born May 4, 1967 in Richlands, VA. He was the son of the late Howard Avery Meadows and Bonnie Lea Barnes Meadows, who is residing at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Tazewell, VA. He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Meadows and sister, Donna Gail Abel. His paternal grandparents, Napoleon G. Meadows and Florida Griffith Meadows of Jewell Ridge, VA; maternal grandmother, Thelma Mitchell Barnes Brown of Richlands, VA; maternal grandfather, Marshall Barnes and wife Louise of Richlands. Survivors include his daughter, Crystal Ashley Nichols and husband Paul, of Woodford, VA and three grandchildren, Amanda, Shawn, and Tyler. His brother, Harold Meadows and wife Judy of Remington, VA; sister, Diana Stinson and husband Billy of Cedar Bluff, VA; brother-in-law, Jerry Abel of Ruther Glen, VA. Four nieces, Angie Sutphin, Lisa Lockhart, Ashlie Marshall, and Marla Salyers; two nephews, Bud Abel and Dwayne Hicks. He also leaves behind ten great nieces and nephews, and one great-great niece. For the past two years, Randal Perry Meadows has made his home in the Hill Creek area of Richlands, VA after moving from Stafford, VA with his mother. He stayed and did the best he could to help his mother, he was a good son to her. During most of his adult life he lived in Caroline County and near Fredericksburg, VA. He stayed with his Dad in Crossville, TN occasionally in his early thirties. He worked many years as a concrete finisher. He attended several of the nearby churches at Hill Creek and believed that Jesus was his savior. Although Randy experienced much heart ache and physical pain, he was happy to be alive. He enjoyed taking long walks in the sunshine, snow, and rain. He treasured nature and had many stories to tell of the childhood adventures playing with his cousins on Middle Creek. He was grateful and appreciated the little things. We will always remember hearing him say, “it’s all good” and “God bless you” with the sincerity of a child. His laughter still rings in our ears, because he loved to laugh. Randy never met a stranger and was a very generous soul. He came into the world and left it the same, without any worldly possessions. Randy did not want to own or keep anything except the clothes on his back and some pocket change. We will always remember the good times we shared with Randy and that he was a free spirit. A Memorial service for Randal Perry Meadows will be conducted at 7:00 pm on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Delmar Somoskey officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 – 7:00pm. “Walking by Faith” will be singing at the service on Thursday evening.
