Rev. Glen Stilwell

Rev. Allen Glen Stilwell, age 72 of Raven, Virginia went to be with the Lord, Sunday morning, December 23, 2007 following a lengthy illness. He was born in Cliffield, Virginia and was the son of the late Donald C. Stilwell and the late Katherine Lester Stilwell Kidwell, both former Tazewell County natives. Allen was a member of the Horton Ridge Church of God, He was a minister, having preached in several of the local churches in the area and had a love for the word of God. In his earlier years, he had worked in the coal mines in Buchanan and Tazewell County and later on operated Stilwell?s Bait and Tackle Shop, where he spent many hours sharing fishing and hunting stories with his buddies,. He formed many lasting friendships there, which were very important to him. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a life time resident of the area. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Michael Allen Stilwell, granddaughter, Sarah Michelle Stilwell, brother, Billy Joe Stilwell and sister, Marlene Stilwell Boyd. Those who remain to carry on his memory are: His loving wife, Louise Edith Stilwell of Raven, Virginia Daughters: Teresa Proffitt and husband Steve of Cedar Bluff, Virginia Deborah Stillwell of Raven, Virginia Grandchildren: Joseph M. Stilwell of Swords Creek, Virginia Brandi and Danielle Proffitt of Cedar Bluff, Virginia Misty Kestner and husband Caleb of Saltville, Virginia Brother, Donald Stilwell and wife Peg of New Castle, Delaware Sister, Remona ?Sis? Mays of Tazewell, Virginia Special Aunt, Helen Stillwell Shelton of Doran, Virginia Special friends and care givers: Tammy Wright, Dr. T. Patel, Dr. Thacker and the nurses of CVMC. Former Daughter-in-law: Mrs. Janet Stilwell Davis of Raven, Virginia Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, a host of friends and extended family along with many close buddies who shared his passion for hunting and fishing. Funeral services for Rev. Allen Glen Stilwell will be conducted at 1:00 pm, Thursday, December 27, 2007 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia, with the Pastor Dennis White and the Rev. Monte Elswick officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenhills Memory Gardens, at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Men of the Horton Ridge Church of God will serve as Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be. Norman Jackson, Carter Messer, Dick Ferrell, Homer Dye, Larry Dowdy, Stanley Sparks, Jeff Hagy, Andy Clifton, Gary Miller and Charles Bentley
