Roger Keene

Mr. Roger Lee Keene, age 67, of the Bearwallow section of Jewell Ridge, Virginia, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2009 in a Welch, West Virginia hospital. He was born in Jolo, West Virginia and was the son of Myrtle Cooper Varney of Shortts Gap, Virginia and the late Albert Buskil Keene. He had made his home in the Florida area most of his life and was currently working for Newhall Contracting. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed farming, hunting, and playing with his grandchildren. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. Survivors, in addition to his mother, are: His wife of 47 years: Grendia Keene Two Daughters: Shawn Marie Keene and fiancé, Kevin Perry of San Mateo, Florida Violet Clark of Jacksonville, Florida Two Sons: Jeffrey David Keene of Jewell Ridge, Virginia Buskel Zane Keene and wife, Miracle of Jewell Ridge, Virginia Four Sisters: Martha Allen and husband, Sam of Bridgeton, New Jersey Juanita Wimmer of Jewell Ridge, Virginia Penny Compton and husband, Johnny of Shortts Gap, Virginia Gaynell Adkins of Pound, Virginia Three Brothers: Troy Keene and wife, Janice of Pea Patch, Virginia Harold D. Keene and wife, Betty of Florahome, Florida Richard Cooper of Lakeland, Florida Five Grandchildren: Ramie Jordan Allen, Wyatt Cole Marx, Perry Lee Keene, Cecil James Keene, and Emily Robin Keene and Three Step Grandchildren, Cason Perry, Zane Clark, and Ryen Clark, also survive. Funeral services for Roger Lee Keen will be conducted Thursday, April 2, 2009 at 2:00pm at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Hobart Kennedy, Rev. Dennis Wimmer, and Rev. Clarence Herron officiating. Interment will follow at the White Family Cemetery on White Mountain near Jewell Ridge, Virginia. Nephews and his Niece will serve as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Noah Phipps, Richard Phipps, Johnny Proffitt, Stevie White, Bill Lusk, and Danny Mullins.
