Rufus Walter Bogle Sr.

Rufus Walter Bogle, Sr., age 71 of North Tazewell, VA died Monday, January 11, 2016 at his home. He was born October 13, 1944 in Tazewell County, VA and was a son of the late James Garland and Sally Lou McGuire Bogle. Mr. Bogle had worked for many years as a Roof Bolt Manufacturer with the former Tazewell Industry. He enjoyed fishing, being outdoors, mowing grass and volunteering at the Tazewell Livestock Market. Mr. Bogle was a man who loved cutting up with his friends and family; he loved his family and friends, but his grandchildren were the light of his life. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Marie Lynn Green; one brother, Andrew “Gubie” Bogle; one sister, Susie Rolley. Those who survive to cherish his memory include his loving wife of thirty-years, Deborah Thompson Bogle; his daughter, Sally Jean Bogle Cruey and husband, Terry of Baptist Valley, VA; two sons, Rufus Walter Bogle, II and wife, Marcella of Thompson Valley, VA and Eric Lee Thompson and wife, Heather of Tazewell, VA; two sisters, Connie Bogle and Stella “Pee-Dee” Bratcher, both of South Carolina; four brothers, Henry Bogle of North Carolina, David Bogle and Bill McGuire, both of South Carolina and James Bogle and wife, Donna; nine grandchildren, Cody “Toego” Bogle, Jessica “Little Girl” Cruey, Terry “Flea” Cruey, all of Baptist Valley, VA, Andrew “Andygump” Bogle of Thompson Valley, VA, Tristan Thompson of Bluefield, VA, Teddy “Slick” Fleming of Cleveland, VA, McKenzie “Cheyenne” Miller of Tazewell, VA, Nicole Vargas and Crystal Counts; his loving mother in-law, Mabel Thompson of Baptist Valley, VA; three sisters in-law, Amy Osborne and companion, Ken Ruby of North Tazewell, VA, Karen Lockhart of Baptist Valley, VA and Norma Vaughan and husband, Bruce of North Carolina; one brother in-law, Jamie Thompson and wife, Jill of North Carolina; his faithful companion and pet, Buddy; a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends also survive. Funeral Services for Rufus Walter Bogle, Sr. will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Friday, January 15, 2016 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, VA with Minister Carol Cornwell officiating. In honoring Mr. Bogle’s wishes his body will be cremated. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 – 7 P.M. Friday, January 15, 2016.
