Ruth Ellen Meadows Strouth

Ruth Ellen Meadows Strouth, age 77 of Richlands, Virginia went to be with the Lord, on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at a Richlands hospital following a lengthy illness. She was born in Bandy, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Robert E. and Ruthi Griffith Meadows who were former Tazewell County natives. Ruth had dedicated her life to caring for her family and their home. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She had a heart of gold which she opened to all in need. She and her husband were former foster parents prior to her battle beginning with schizophrenia. She was a breast cancer survivor and was diagnosed in March with CHF. She was very charismatic and made everyone smile who knew her. She was of the Protestant Faith and lived most of her life in the Tazewell County area. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James Henry Strouth, sister, Mary Pruitt and brothers, Ermil T., Arnold B., Roy H. and James W. Meadows. Those who remain to carry on her spirit are: Her daughters: Edwina Crawford and husband Todd of Richlands, Virginia Annetta Strouth of Richlands, Virginia Son, Ira L. Strouth of Richlands, VA Sister, Emily Street of Pounding Mill, VA Grandchildren: Amanda Kassay and husband Sean, Samantha “Katie” McClanahan and husband Zachary, Hannah Michal Crawford and Emma Grace Crawford. Great-grandchildren, Aryanna Kassay, Zoey McClanahan and Abbygail McClanahan Several nieces, nephews and friends also survive her. Special thanks to LaDonna Osborne N.P. and staff of Merit Medial and Preferred Home Health for their care and kindness, Funeral services for Ruth Ellen Meadows Strouth will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Monday, August 25, 2014 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Ricky Pruitt and Roger Lester officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Relatives and Friends. Family will receive friends on Monday morning beginning at 11:00 am until time of the service.
