Samuel Dean Lawson

Samuel Dean Lawson, age 54, of Swords Creek, VA, left us to go to his Heavenly home on Thursday, July 31, 2024 in Johnston Memorial Hospital, in Abingdon, VA. He was born in Richlands, VA, and was the son of the late Dewey and Ruby Ball Lawson. He was a lifelong resident of the Raven and Swords Creek areas. He was a graduate of Honaker High School class of 1989. Samuel was well liked by his friends and was dearly loved by his family. He was always willing to help anyone he could. He was previously employed by JERRCO. Those to left to cherish his memory are: His wife, Lisa Carmen Bandy Lawson of Honaker, VA His Brothers: Hubert Leslie Lawson and wife, Brenda of Raven, VA Brian Keith Lawson and fiancé, Samantha Garrett of Raven, V Sisters: Brenda Carol Taylor and husband, Larry of North Tazewell, VA Rita Griffith and husband, Russell of Raven, VA Patricia Steele and her late husband, Jack of Swords Creek, VA Lesia Lawson-Oliver and husband, David of Raven, VA Stepchildren: James Hale and fiancé, Kristin Symonds of Martinsville, VA; and Katie Blankenship and husband, Russell of Pilot Mountain. NC. Nephews: Scott Compton and wife, Danielle; Russell Griffith Jr. and wife, Keisha; Jason Taylor and wife, Faith; Brock Steele; Brett Steele; and Colton Lawson. Nieces: Monica Fleming and husband, James; and Christina Griffith. Great nephews: Corey Compton and wife, Meagan; Logan Fleming. Great nieces: Kayla Rife and husband Shane; Cassidy Fleming. and Emily Griffith. Great-Great nephews: Gavin and JJ Taylor; Levi and Mason Compton; and Jensen Rife. Great-Great Nieces: Karlee and Nova Leigh Compton, and Avery Taylor. Several family and friends also survive. Funeral services for Samuel Dean Lawson will be conducted Sunday, August 4, 2024 at 2pm at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Dennis White officiating. Burial will follow at the Horton Family Cemetery on Horton Ridge near Raven, Virginia. Nephews and friends will serve as pallbearers. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday evening from 6-9 pm at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia.
