Sara Jane Ketron Poole

Sara Jane Ketron Poole left this world on September 6, 2023, while surrounded by the love of her family at Bristol Regional Medical Center. Born in Richmond, Virginia, in February 1962, she was the beloved daughter of Dr. Samuel G. Ketron Jr. and Nancy Elliott Ketron. Sara's roots ran deep in Lebanon, Virginia, where she spent the majority of her life. After graduating from Lebanon High School, she pursued her passion, earning a degree in Psychology from Virginia Tech, followed by a master’s degree in occupational therapy from Milligan College. Sara dedicated her professional life to the Russell County School System, offering therapy to countless students. In her free time, Sara enjoyed crafting, cooking, being outdoors, going to music concerts, spending time at the beach or lake with family and friends, and spoiling her animals, Emma, Lacy, Loki, and Buddy. Sara now reunites with her parents and grandparents, Dr. WC Elliott and Margaret Jenks Elliott, and Samuel G. Ketron Sr. and Coralie Wilson Ketron, as well as her cousins Judith Ann Elliott and Michael Startt. Her memory forever remains in the hearts of those she leaves behind, including her devoted husband, Johnny Poole, and her loving son, John Michael Duty (Caroline). Sara's cousins also cherish her memory: Carlton Elliott (Rhonda), Dr. Jessica Elliott, and Kayla Elliott of Lebanon, VA; Chris Elliott (Jan), Mylon, and Mackenzie (Michaela) of Belews Creek, NC; Tom Jennings of Elmira, NY; Steve Jennings of Williamsburg, VA; Connie Sithens of New Bern, NC; Susan Fisher of Richmond; Lee Cole of Salem, Virginia; and Ann McBroom of Salem, VA. The family extends heartfelt gratitude for the overwhelming love and support they've received during this challenging time, with special thanks to dear friends Ginger, Kim, Sandy, and the 80's Ladies. To honor Sara's life, memorial services will be conducted on Saturday, September 9th, 2023, at 1pm at the Lebanon Memorial United Methodist Church, 24 Tate Avenue, Lebanon, Virginia with the Rev. Allen Jessee officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 11am until 1pm on Saturday prior to the memorial service at the church.
