Sarah Jane Harman Keen

Sarah Jane Harman Keen, 86, of Richlands, Virginia passed away January 10, 2025, in Abingdon, Virginia after a lengthy illness. Jane was born on February 3, 1938, to Lydia Meadows Matney Harman and Andrew Jackson Harman in Buchanan County, Virginia. She was the youngest daughter of 13 children. She married Walter Lee Keen on June 23, 1956, and their family grew to include their two sons and daughters Rodney, Sherry, Sandra and Brian. Jane always enjoyed spending time with and taking care of other people, which she was able to do while owning and running a restaurant, Mountain Inn, and a racetrack, Cedar Hills. She then worked at Jacqueline Manufacturing, making clothing. Jane was always full of life and could always be counted on for a hug and a smile. She loved anything red, gold or sparkly. She enjoyed fashion and pretty things and was able to share this love with the community in her dress shop, Jane’s. Jane’s greatest love was her family and her dog, Peanut. She enjoyed reading books and watching movies with her granddaughter, Tiffany. Jane was always a kind and giving person. She loved watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren as they grew up. Jane was preceded in death by her siblings Ollie, Eva, Luther, Mazie, Glen, Cindy, Pearl, Vergie, Sherman and Stonewall. She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law Jerry Cordle. Jane is survived by: Four children: Rodney Lee Keen and wife Donna Sherry Cordle Sandra Faye Smith and husband Larry Walter Brian Keen and wife Rojie Special nieces: Cindy Cline and Eunice McNulty Nephew, Don Ford. Grandchildren: Ami Twiddy, Kellie Blackwell, Tiffany Smith, Christina Keen and Alexander Keen. Five great grandchildren: Amber, Oliver, Tucker, Beckett, and Thatcher. Special caregiver, Lisa Harris. Siblings Henry Harman and Ruth Price. Service will be held at Hurst-Scott Funeral Home January 19 at 2pm. The family will receive guests prior to the service at 1pm. Pallbearers include Alexander Keen, Jeffrey Blackwell, Oliver Blackwell, Tucker Blackwell, Wayne Twiddy, Carlos Camacho, Jimmy Settle and Zane Settle. Honorary pallbearers include Beckett Blackwell and Thatcher Blackwell. The family would like to give thanks to the Johnston Memorial Hospital Hospice and staff. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jane’s name to Meals on Wheels or Tazewell County Animal Shelter.
