Shirley Wilson

Shirley Ruth Patrick Wilson, age 73, of Richlands, Virginia passed away Thursday, October 21, 2010 at her home following a brief illness. She was born in Richlands, Virginia and was the daughter of the late William and Victoria Dye Patrick. She was a graduate of Richlands High School Class of 1955. Shirley had worked as a cashier for 46 years in a variety of local stores. She assisted her husband, the late Rev. Roy Kenneth Wilson, in pastoring several Assembly of God Church’s in the Richlands area. Shirley was a Sunday School teacher for many years and also served as the church pianist and the president of the Women’s Ministry. She was a lifetime resident of the Richlands area. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Rev. Roy Kenneth Wilson, and three sisters, Virginia Comer, Flora Patrick and Emma Jean Pruitt. Those who remain to carry on her spirit are: Her son: Jonathan David Wilson of Richlands, VA Her Daughter: Patricia Wilson Bowman of Pounding Mill, VA Sister: Louise Dye of Lynchburg, VA Brothers: George Patrick and wife Betty of Richlands, VA Russell Patrick and wife Jackie of Richlands, VA Grandsons: Keenan Bowman, Eric Bowman, Nicholas Bowman, Hunter Wilson and Jacob Wilson Faithful canine companion, Prissy Special Caregivers and friends, Betty Horton, Terri Dye and the Nursing staff of Home Nursing Company Inc. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, family and a host of friends. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services for Shirley Wilson will be conducted at 2:00pm on Sunday, October 24, 2010 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Ralph Horton and Bobby Alicie officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, VA. Pallbearers will be Rudy Keith, Jerry Williams, Kenneth Stiltner, Michael Patrick, John Patrick, Eddie Patrick, Ricky Dye and Nicky Dye. Honorary Pallbearers will be nephews, Bobby Comer, Jimmy Comer, Tommy Comer, Chris Patrick, Chad Patrick and R.F. Pruitt.
