Teresa Lynn Harmon Tegeler

Teresa Harmon Tegeler, age 43, of Jewell Ridge, Virginia, formerly of Greenville, South Carolina, passed away Thursday, August 22, 2013 after fighting a courageous battle against pancreatic cancer at the home of her parents, James and Ruby Vandyke Harmon, surrounded by family and friends. She was born in Richlands, Virginia and was the daughter of James and Ruby Vandyke Harmon of the Bearwallow section of Jewell Ridge, Virginia. Teresa was a graduate of Harvest Christian Academy in 1987 and a graduate of The Paul Mitchell School of Hair Design, Orlando, Florida in 2006. She worked as a cosmetologist for many years until moving to Greenville, South Carolina where she worked as a dental assistant of the Rocky Creek Dental Care. She began her battle with pancreatic cancer in March, 2013 and moved back to Bearwallow, Virginia with her family and son, Andrew in April, 2013. Teresa was an inspiration to all of those who knew her. She had a tremendous faith in God, amazing smile and infectious personality that touched each person who had the privilege of knowing her. Teresa was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Raymond “Doc” Cole Vandyke; paternal grandparents, Clyde and Frances Underwood Harmon; one aunt, Tootsie Osborne, one uncle, Clyde Harmon, Jr., and cousin, Scottie Harrison. In addition to her parents, she is survived by: Her two loving Sons: Alexander Tegeler of Greenville, South Carolina Andrew Harmon Tegeler of the home One Brother, Ellis Harmon and wife, Penny of Richlands, Virginia Maternal Grandmother, Alivia Nelson Vandyke of the Bearwallow section of Jewell Ridge, Virginia Special Niece and Nephew: Olivia Harmon and Jake Harmon “Special Brother at Heart”: Dexter Harmon and wife, Tammy of Gate City, Virginia She is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of family and friends who loved her dearly. Funeral services for Teresa Harmon Tegeler will be conducted Sunday, August 25, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Lonnie Perkins officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens, Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be: Dusty Vandyke, Raymond Vandyke, Brett Harmon, Chris Harmon, Brandon Vandyke, and Terry Keen. Honorary pallbearers will be: Employees of Rocky Creek Dental Care, Dr. Forrest Swan, Dr. T. Ahmed, Dr. K. Mehmood, Dr. Ariel Rodriquez, Dr. V. J. Rama, April Tegeler and Employees of Helping Hands Home Health Care and Hospice.
