Thelma Smith

Mrs. Thelma Celina Smith, age 78, of the Red Root Ridge section of Raven, Virginia died Wednesday, November 12th, 2003 at her home following a lengthy illness. She was born in Tazewell County, Virginia and was a daughter of the late Wallace Matthew and Trula Irene Smith. She was a life long resident of the Raven area and was a member of the Macedonia Primitive Baptist Church on Red Root Ridge. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Winfred Robert Smith in 1990, one son, Allen Eugene Smith, one daughter, Janus Charlene Smith, one grandson, Jeffrey Scott Smith, two sisters, June Ratliff and Willie Smith, one brother, Perry Smith, two half brothers, Raymond Smith and Farley Smith, and her step-mother, Mrs. Bendy Smith. Survivors are: Two Daughters: Mrs. Christine Ann White, husband, Harry of Swords Creek, Virginia Mrs. Judy Karen Bandy, husband, Robert of Raven, Virginia Three Sons: Mr. Paul Matthew Smith, wife, Carolyn of Fairmont, West Virginia Mr. Daniel Lee Smith, wife, Jane of Raven, Virginia Mr. Wendell Robert Smith, wife, Anita of Wardell, Virginia Five Sisters: Mrs. Mary Jeanette Altizer of Cedar Bluff, Virginia Mrs. Juanita Looney of Lebanon, Virginia Mrs. Ada Pinion of Raven, Virginia Mrs. Ella Cornett of Roanoke, Virginia Mrs. Lois Hoggard of Lenoir, North Carolina Three Half-Brothers: Mr. Tom Smith of Raven, Virginia Mr. Wallace Matthew Smith, Jr. of Raven, Virginia Mr. Crobie Smith of Whitewood, Virginia Three Half-Sisters: Mrs. Molly Williams of Pennsylvania Mrs. Peggy Johnson of Raven, Virginia Mrs. Bonnie Proffitt of Raven, Virginia 12 Grandchildren, 1 Foster Granddaughter, and 13 Great Grandchildren also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Thelma Celina Smith will be conducted Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands with Elder Ronnie Beavers and Elder Robert Whitt officiating. Interment will follow in the Simmons Family Cemetery on Red Root Ridge near Raven, Virginia. Grandsons and Sons-In-Law will serve as pallbearers.
