Timothy Keene

Timothy Edward Keene, age 43 of Richlands, Virginia passed away on Friday, September 23, 2011 following a brief illness. He was born in Richlands, Virginia and was the son of Lillie Mae Roberts Keene Horton of Richlands, Virginia and the late Jimmy Autry Keene. Timothy attended Richlands High School and spent most of his life mining coal. He loved to watch Nascar Racing, go fishing and hunting and was a true Virginia Tech Football Fan. He was a loving son, father, brother and uncle, he was a lifetime resident of the area and will truly be missed. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a step-father, Bill Horton and a nephew, Ricky Harrison. Those who survive him are: His son, Justin Keene and wife Kelly of Pounding Mill, VA Mother, Lillie Mae Horton of Richlands, VA Brothers: Jimmy Keene, Jr. and wife Carlene of Richlands, VA Bernard Keene and wife Teresa of Doran, VA Todd Keene and wife Rae of Richlands, VA Billy Horton and wife Bobbie of Richlands, VA David Horton and wife Robin of Belfast, VA Step-Brother, Ernie Horton and wife Kathy of Richlands, VA Step-sisters: Diane Whited and husband Roger of Richlands, VA Patty Richardson and husband Gary of Roanoke, VA Vernie Strouth and husband David of Roanoke, VA Polly Doud and husband Tim of Richlands, VA Granddaughter, Reagan Keene of Pounding Mill, VA Several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins also survive him along with a host of friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Monday, September 26, 2011 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Rusty Ward officiating and speaker Don Smith. Interment will follow at the Clinch Valley Cemetery in Richlands, Virginia. Pallbearers will be, Justin Keene, Jimmy Keene, Jr., Bernard Keene, Billy Horton, David Horton and Jimmy A. Keene III. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Todd Keene, Zachary Horton, Brett Horton, Ernie L. Horton and Walter “Skeeter” Ickes. A visitation will be held on Sunday evening, September 25, 2011 from 6:00 – 9:00 pm at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia.
