Tivis Boyd

Tivis “Midge” Benford Boyd age 62, of Richlands, Virginia passed away January 30, 2010 at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Midge was born in Grundy, Virginia and was the son of the late Tivis Simmie and Estelle Deel Boyd. Midge was a free lance welder who had worked for numerous companies. He was one of the kindest, caring, loving, give you the shirt off of his back, even if he didn’t have one to put back on kind of guy. Everyone who had the honor, opportunity and privilege to know him was truly given an honor bestowed on them by God! He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his maternal grand-parents Benjamin Franklin and Margaret Jane Deel, his paternal grand-parents Joseph W. and Rachel Virginia Boyd and by four brothers, Harold Lloyd, Roger Eulis, Tony Lee and Phillip Ray Boyd. Those who remain to carry on his spirit are: His former wife and mother of his children, Barbara Ann Boyd. His daughter, Kimberley S. “Peanut” Boyd and fiancé Billy Pfarr of Maryland His son, Kevin Shane Boyd and fiancé Destiny Heltzel of Maryland Sister, Deborah L. Boyd Bowman and husband Danny Lee (Midges Ride Buddy) of Richlands, VA Brothers: Billy E. Boyd and wife Josephine of Mooresburg, TN Frederick J. Boyd and wife Monica of Clincho, VA Special Companion and friend, Bonnie Marcano of Richlands, VA Granddaughters, Tanya Brooke Boyd and Dakota Lorraine Pfarr. Grandson, John Allen Bruce and one great grandson James Christopher Bills. Nieces, Sharon K. Nelson, Lisa L. Shortridge and Megan L. Boyd. Nephews, Billy-Joe, Kevin D., Marty E., Phillip Allen, Trevor J. Boyd, Scott A. and Jamison L. Bowman. Funeral services for Tivis “Midge Boyd will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Thursday, February 4, 2010 at the Coleman’s Chapel Church in Russell Prater, Virginia. Midge requested a singing service which will include his niece Megan Boyd and other singers instead of a regular funeral service. A special short reading will be read by Freddy Boyd and Debbie Bowman. Interment will follow at the Joseph W. Boyd Cemetery located in Russell Prater. Pallbearers will be his nephews and Travis Hicks. Honorary Pallbearers will be Danny Bowman, Wake Forest Staff, Clinch Valley medical Center Staff, Dr. Pillai, Dr. Motos, Dr. Weinacker, Dr. Jabourian, Dr. Sullivan and Dr. Hanoa.
