Virgle Ray Short

Virgle Ray Short, Sr., age 77, of Terrell, NC, formerly of Richlands, VA passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at his home. He was born November 20, 1936 in Richlands, VA and was the son of the late Andy Clarence and Ethel Mae Ball Short. Mr. Short was a veteran of the United State Air Force. He was a former employee of Ballard Insurance Company in Richlands, Virginia; and was a member of Jesus Life Worship Center in Moravian Falls, NC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Berma Lucille Mash Short; and one brother, Emory Short. He is survived by: Three Daughters: Katherine Short of Denver Katrina Quick and husband, William of Sherrills Ford, NC Vanessa Hankins of Bristol, VA Son: Virgle Ray Short, Jr. of Catawba, North Carolina Nine Grandchildren: Taylor Clark and wife, Meagan of Ansbach, Germany; Forrest Quick of Fairbanks, Alaska; Katelyn Huffman of Denver; Olivia Walker of Terrell, North Carolina; Kyndall Lunsford of Mooresville, North Carolina; Alexis Short of Catawba, North Carolina; Emma Short of Concord, North Carolina; Ashely Hankins of Knoxville, Tennessee; and Josh Hankins of Cedar Bluff, Virginia Two Sisters: Lillian Lester of Raven, Virginia Doris Messick and husband, Hallie of Raven, Virginia Five Brothers: Buford Short and wife, Elaine of the Road Ridge section of Raven, Virginia Marrison Short and wife, Evelyn of Raven, Virginia Russell Short and wife, Linda of Swords Creek, Virginia Arnold Short and wife, Ruth of the Road Ridge section of Raven, Virginia John Short of Richlands, Virginia One Sister-in-law, Marie Short of Richlands, Virginia Special Friend, Little Princess Funeral services for Virgle Ray Short, Sr. will be conducted Friday, July 18, 2014 at 1:00 pm at the Jesus Life Worship Center, Moravian Falls, NC with Rev. Richard Owings, Rev. Harold Mash, Pastor Larry Arendas and Rev. James Lewis officiating. Burial with military honors by Post #1142 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Honor Guard will be in the church cemetery.
