Vivian Crouse Riley

A loving and caring mother, Vivian Clara Crouse Riley, age 83 of North Tazewell, VA, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Sunday, August 25, 2013 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She passed from life temporal to life eternal and was reunited with her husband, Kenneth “Jack” Riley, who passed away in December of 2000. She was born March 12, 1930 at Sawyersville, VA and was a daughter of the late Timothy Richard and Susie Gracie Brooks Crouse. She was a lifelong resident of Tazewell County, VA and was a loving housewife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mrs. Riley was a member of the Calvary Assembly of God in Baptist Valley, VA and loved to sing the Lord’s praises. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, canning the vegetables she harvested from her gardens, and sewing. Her faith and her family were her life; she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by eight brothers, baby Everett Crouse, John Crouse, Harold Crouse, Herbert Crouse, Dokie Crouse, George Crouse, Shelby Crouse and an infant brother; four sisters, Frances Thompson, Blanche Crouse, Lois Young, and infant Nannie Belle Crouse. Survivors include four daughters, Jackie Darlene Price and Patricia Elaine Gentry, both of North Tazewell, VA, Angelina Gale Armes and husband, George of Dublin, VA, and Linda Geraldine Leftwich of Bandy, VA; two sisters, Mary Butt of Bluefield, WV, and Juanita White of Martinsburg, WV; twelve grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; special caregivers; Judy Meadows, and Amanda Ray; several nieces and nephews, other family members and friends also survive. Funeral services for Vivian Clara Crouse Riley will be conducted at 2:00pm Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at the Hurst – Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, VA with Pastor Adam Frye and the Rev. Troy Bartley officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA. Grandsons and Great-Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be James Leftwich and Duane Armes. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 – 9 p.m. Tuesday, August 27, 2013.
