Wanda Ray Taylor

Wanda Ray Taylor, age 56 of Bishop, VA died Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Clinch Valley Medical Center in Richlands, VA. She was born January 22, 1957 at Welch, WV and was a daughter of the late Samuel A. and Hettie Brewster Charles. Wanda was of the Christian faith and attended services the Berwind Revival Center in Berwind, WV. She loved going to Church, cooking and cleaning for her family and taking care of the animals she loved. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Tommy Charles; one sister, Delores Charles; father and mother-in-law, Carl Taylor, Sr. and Louise Taylor; five nieces and nephews. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of thirty-seven years, Jerry Dean Taylor; daughters of the heart, Sarah Charles of Tazewell, VA, Britney Mitchell and husband, Chris of Newhall, WV, and Stephanie Omarrah and husband, Michael of Bluefield, VA; sons of the heart, Rex Hicks, Jr. and Chris Hicks, both of Mt. Holly, NC, and Josh Prater of Berwind, WV; four sisters, Katherine Hawks and husband, Carson of Tazewell, VA, Jean Asbury of Dallas, NC, Jackie Hicks and husband, Allan of Mt. Holly, NC, and Mary Prater and husband, David of Berwind, WV; five brothers, Sam Charles, Jr. and wife, Diane of Berwind, WV, George Charles and wife, Melissa of Dallas, NC, Roger Charles and wife, Loretta and Allen Charles and wife, Alice, all of Lincolnton, NC, and Johnny Charles and wife, Sonya of Mt. Holly, NC; special friends, April and Darrell Hill and James Asbury; her pets, Sox and Little Man; several nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends also survive. Funeral services for Wanda Ray Taylor will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at the Berwind Revival Center in Berwind, WV with the Sister Kathleen Stanley, James Charles, and Teddy Ogle officiating. Burial will follow at the Big Creek Cemetery in Big Creek, WV. Pallbearers will be Josh Prater, Sammy Taylor, Chris Mitchell, Ronnie Taylor, Jeremy Charles and Aaron Hawks. Brandon Charles, Michael Omarrah, and Allan Hicks will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the Berwind Revival Center in Berwind, WV from 6 – 9 p.m. Monday, April 22, 2013. Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Tazewell has the honor of serving the Taylor family.
