Wanda Sue Varney

Wanda Sue Varney moved to her heavenly home, Wednesday, August 9, 2023. She has won her final battle with this earthly decaying flesh and forever gained what she truly lived for, the kingdom of heaven! Wanda was born on June 24, 1945, in Honaker, Virginia, and was the daughter of the late Coy McGlothlin and Daisy Sykes McGlothlin. She was a 1963 graduate of Honaker High School and had attended the Richlands Tabernacle since 1974 and truly loved her church family. Wanda was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend who dedicated her life to caring for those she loved. Her life consisted of God first, she loved to worship her Lord, and her life was a true reflection of a Godly woman. Her family was second, they were her whole world and her greatest joy. Then there is her third thing in life that she loved to do, Shopping. She was a true connoisseur of the shopping industry. She leaves behind a hole that will never be filled because she loved so well. Her life was full of fruit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, and self-control. She always put everyone else before herself. We will miss her tremendously, but make no mistake, we know where she now resides. This isn’t goodbye, it’s I’ll see you later! She was humorous and made us laugh right up until her last days! Her love for God was steadfast and was truly shown in her final words she spoke, “He is good”, and we can only imagine the vision God was revealing to her as she left this world. In addition to her parents, she was greeted in heaven by her brother, Kermit McGlothlin. Remaining behind to carry on her loving spirit are her: Husband of 51 years, Keith Noel Varney of Pounding Mill, VA Children: Timothy Varney and his wife, Angel of Knoxville, TN Sarah Phillips and her husband, Seth of Cedar Bluff, VA Sister, Phyllis Miller, and her husband, Ben of Honaker, VA Her grandchildren who brought great joy to her heart, are Tanner Varney, Quinley Varney, Bella Varney, Taylor Phillips, Madison Phillips, and Grant Phillips. The funeral service for Wanda Varney will be at 1:00 pm on Sunday, August 13, 2023, at the Richlands Tabernacle with the Rev. Dale Keene and Rev. Phillip Horton officiating. Entombment will follow at the Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum #4 with the Rev. Roger Boyd conducting the committal service. Pallbearers will be Danny “Red” Horton, Jack Ray, Tanner Varney, Jason Schuler, Matthew Ray, Willie Horn, David Lee Horton, and Rodney Roberts. Honorary pallbearers will be Ben Miller, Jeff Miller, Randy Miller, Chris Horton, Steve McGlothlin, Bennie Endicott, and Joseph Shepherd. The family will receive friends beginning at 6:00 pm at the Richlands Tabernacle on Saturday evening.
