Yvonne Ann Hinkle Dutton

Yvonne Ann Hinkle Dutton, age 53, went home to be with Jesus on April 9th with her daughter by her side after a nearly 7-year heroic fight against metastatic breast cancer. Yvonne was the daughter of the late Franklin “Frank” Hinkle and her mother, Charlotte Spade. She graduated from Richlands High School in 1987. Upon graduation, she entered the United States Air Force and served our great country until 1997. From there, she entered the legal field and worked for various law firms until 2020. Yvonne lived by the motto “Choose joy” and had the brightest smile, even in the hardest of times. She relied heavily on her Faith throughout her life and loved to sing – especially worship music. She loved musicals, traveling, and making unforgettable memories. She valued quality time above all and thoroughly enjoyed living out her bucket list. She is survived by her devoted daughter and best friend, Monique Dutton Smith; beloved son-in-law, Robert “Robby” Smith; and cherished pet companion, Sandy Sue. She loved spending time with her family; sisters, Yvette Childress and Terri Hinkle-Durant; and brother, Gene Hinkle. She was very proud of her nieces and nephews and enjoyed visiting with them. She never grew tired of hearing stories about her dad from her aunts and uncles. The family acknowledges with deep gratitude Dr. James Khatcheressian and the incredible staff at Virginia Cancer Institute, Henrico Doctor’s Hospital, Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute, and Dr. Montante and Shelly for the excellent world-class care they provided. She was grateful for the support and encouragement from Pink & Pearls (a local non-profit), Momma Yvonne Support Squad, and her classmates. She especially appreciated Judy Jones for her faithfulness and dedication to helping others and her cousin-friend, Connie Fisher for coffee dates. She genuinely appreciated the thoughtful cards she received and read every one of them over the years. A Celebration of Life is planned for Yvonne at Deep Run Park in Richmond, VA on Friday, April 28, 2023 from 5-8 pm. Additionally, we will celebrate Yvonne’s life in her hometown of Richlands, VA at Hurst-Scott Funeral Home on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 3:00 pm. Members of the Casey-Shortt VFW Post #9640 will conduct military rites. We invite anyone who knew her to attend either event and celebrate her beautiful life.
