Arlene Keene, age 87 with residences in both New Port Richey, FL and Tannersville, Virginia went home to be with Jesus peacefully on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 6pm after falling ill five weeks prior. Arlene was Homecoming Queen of Gary High School, had a notable career as a medical secretary, sold real estate, owned and ran Keene's Sunoco and an ad booklet business with her husband, Virgil Keene. She joins her husband Virgil, mother and father, Steward and Alie Harman, brother Josh Harman, sisters Francis McBride and Thelma Kelly, son Virgil Keene Jr., grandsons Michael Keene, Jr. and John Keene in heaven. Arlene has 2 surviving daughters, Cindy Hoogerwerf and husband, Bruce of New Port Richey, FL and Diane Keene of Newport Richey, FL and 1 son, Michael Keene Sr. of Hudson, FL Arlene is the beloved grandmother of 9, great grandmother of 14, aunt and cousin to many. She will be greatly missed. Funeral Services for Mrs. Keene will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Hurst-Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, VA with Bruce Hoogerwerf officiating. Burial will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery in Skygusty, West Virginia. Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Hurst-Scott Funeral Home from 12 – 1:00 p.m. Saturday February 12, 2022.
