Carl Edward Taylor Jr.

April 9, 1949 - April 13, 2022

Carl Edward Taylor, Jr., age 73 of Bishop, Virginia celebrated his heavenly homecoming on Tuesday, April 12, 2022. He was at the Roanoke Memorial Hospital following a lengthy battle with cancer. Carl was born April 9, 1949 in Mundy Town, near Adria, Virginia and was the son of the late, Carl E. Taylor, Sr. and Della Louise Clark Taylor. He was a 1968 graduate of Tazewell High School and went to work in the coal mines until later retiring from Appalachia Mine Supply as an equipment mechanic. He had dedicated 37 years as a member of the Bishop Fire Department. Carl loved cars, racing lawnmowers, riding motorcycles and spending time in his garage working on his many vehicles. Carl’s front porch and his garage were sort of a gathering place for those in need of a listening ear and comforting words. He was a good friend to many and loved to help others. He had attended the Alexander UMC in Bishop. Carl was a lifetime resident of the area and will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him. In addition to his parents he was reunited in heaven with his infant sister, his brother, Mike Taylor and his sisters-in-law, Wanda Taylor and Debbie Taylor. Those that remain to carry on his loving spirit are his: Sons, Ronald Lee “Ron T” Taylor of Bishop, VA; Samuel Elijah Taylor and wife, Cindy of Bishop, VA Sisters, Rachel Allison and husband, Artist of Nashville, TN, Dorothy Cox and husband, David of Thompson Valley, VA Brothers, Jerry Dean Taylor of Bishop, VA, Burt Taylor of Gratton, VA Sister-in-law, Kathy Taylor Special Niece, Donna Sink of Roanoke, VA Grandchildren, Courtney Gray and husband, Tyler of Peterstown, WV, Beronica Williamson of Fall Mills, VA Step-grandchild, Andrew Carty and wife, Courtney of Kingsport, TN Great-grandchild, Alice Gray; Step-great-grandchildren, Makayla Carty, Bentley Carty, Joseph Carty Canine Companion, Jim Tom He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, family and friends. In remembrance of Carl, the family ask in lieu of flowers to make donations to the funeral home for his expenses. A Celebration of Life service will be held in his honor at 5:00 pm on Friday, April 15, 2022 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Tazewell, Virginia with the Reverends. Lawrence Hayes and Daniel Bradley officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Darrell Thomas, Steve Pauley, Jim Dishmen, Randy Kennedy, Clyde Null, and Andrew Carty. The family will receive friends beginning at 4:00 pm on Friday until time of service.
