Delbert Lee Cole Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Delbert Lee Edward Cole, age 91, of Pea Patch, Virginia, son of the late Joshua and Bertha Cole, went to be with the Lord on July 17, 2022, with his family by his side at a Pikeville Kentucky hospital. Lee was born on April 27, 1931, on White Mountain in Buchanan County at his childhood home. He had served his country in the United States Army, worked many years as a coal miner, and then went to work timbering mining supplies. Lee was always active in his service to the Lord; he attended the Jesus Church of Bartley where he served as a deacon and taught Sunday School there for 49 years. In addition to his parents, Lee was preceded in death by his son, Randall Cole, one daughter, Sharon Honaker, two grandsons, Jonathan Roberts, and Ryan Honaker; four brothers, Charlie Cole, Ulis Cole, Woodrow Cole, and Clyde Cole; one sister, Ruby Cole Daniels; son-in-law, David Cox, and a great-granddaughter, Nicole Roberts. Those that remain to carry on his loving spirit are his; Loving wife of 69 years, Helen Cole of White Mtn., VA Brother, J.W. Cole of Benicia, CA Sons: Ralph Cole and wife, Pam of White Mtn., VA Roger Cole and wife, Karen of Bearwallow, VA Daughters: Teresa Hess and husband James of Jewell Valley, VA Shirley Lewis and husband, Freddie of War, WV Sheilah Cox and friend, Michael Looney of White Mtn, VA Daughter-in-Law, Deborah Cole Special friend of the family, Phillip Burress Grandchildren, Andrea Smith, Brian Honaker, Carrie Collins, David Hess, Heather Poore, Jennifer Looney, Joshua Cole, Jeremy Roberts, Jessica Vance, Kennedy Harris, Kim Midkiff, Teresa Rutter, and Tim Cole. A host of great-grandchildren, family, and friends also survive. The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Sunday, July 24, 2022, at the Jesus Church of Bartley in Bartley West Virginia with the Rev. Freddie lewis and Pastor Roger Pete Woods officiating. Interment will follow at the Cole Family Cemetery on White Mountain near Jewell Valley. Pallbearers will be David Hess, Timothy Cole, Jeremy Roberts, Brian Honaker, Joshua Cole, and Josiah Ynacay.
