Delbert "Del" Roosevelt Coleman

Delbert “Del” Roosevelt Coleman, age 88, of Doran, Virginia took his heavenly flight home to be with the Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 23, 2021, at the Clinch Valley Medical Center following a lengthy illness. Del was born March 28, 1933, in Buchanan County and was the son of the late Moody and Ora Coleman. He had worked for many years as a coal miner before his health would no longer allow him to work. He was very outgoing and in his younger days, he was very active and was ready to take off and go. He loved to dance and play the harmonica. As he grew older, he began to settle down, and his main focus was set on heaven. Del was a devoted Christian, he loved God, spending time in church, and listening to WGTH to the many preachers and singers. He enjoyed witnessing to others and talking about God. He was a very loving and devoted brother, uncle, and friend. He loved spending time with his family and had lived his whole life in the Doran area. Del was reunited in heaven with his parents, brothers, Carlos Coleman, Herman Coleman, and Curtis Coleman; sister, Bonnie Conway; and special friend, Oma Osborne. The funeral service for Delbert "Del" Roosevelt Coleman will be at 2:00 pm on Friday, October 29, 2021, at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, with Ministers, Toby Hubbard and Boyd Coleman officiating. Interment will follow at the Hess Family Cemetery in Swords Creek, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Marquise Small, Keith Osborne, Shane Osborne, Nathaniel Osborne, Doug Coleman, and Ronnie Coleman. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Cruey, Jessie Cordle, and Terry Slaughter. A visitation will be Thursday night from 6-9 pm at the Hurst Scott Funeral home.
