Dennis Garnett Helton Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Dennis Garnett Helton, age 66, of Richlands, VA, passed away Saturday evening, November 16, 2019, at his home; and early Sunday, his faithful little companion of 16 years, his dog, “Little Girl” went home with him to be with the Lord. Dennis was born on July 17, 1953 in Cedar Bluff, VA and was the son of the late William G. “Bill” Helton and Altie I. Vencill Helton. He was a class of 1973 graduate of Richlands High School and worked for the S & S Corporation until he became disabled in the early nineties. Dennis is survived by: His Daughter: Nora Nicole Helton of TN Five Sisters: Kay Vencill of Richlands, VA Irene Duvall of Cedar Bluff, VA Janice Arms of Richlands, VA Diane Kinder and husband, Doug of Jewell Ridge, VA Teresa Newberry and husband, James of Cedar Bluff, VA Brothers: Roger Helton and wife, Teresa of Cedar Bluff, VA Samuel Helton and wife, Stachia of Newport News, VA He is also survived by the last two uncles of the Helton family, Arnold and Claude; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins that loved him dearly. The family would like to thank Appalachian Agency for Senior Citizens and their Pace Program for the wonderful care they gave Dennis. A special thanks to Carla, Teresa, and Maddie his aides and nurse, for the love and compassion they showed him. Funeral services for Dennis Garnett Helton will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, VA with the Rev. Otis Musick officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill; VA. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. The Helton family will receive friends from 6-9 pm on Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
