Dorothy Edith Cole

May 22, 1931 - March 24, 2022

Dorothy Edith Whitt Cole, age 90, of the Reynolds Ridge section of Bandy, Virginia, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2022 at her home. She was born in Cedar Bluff, Virginia and was the daughter of the late William Archie Whitt and Virginia Rachel Young Christian and stepfather, John Christian. She had made her home in the Reynolds Ridge area for most of her life and was a member of the Reynolds Ridge Community Church since 1950. She was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother to many and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Thomas Cole; sons, Thomas David Cole, Paul Darcy Cole, and Donnie Ray Cole; sisters, Irene Smith, Ruby Christian Moran, and Gaynell Lowe; brothers, William Whitt, Jr., Cecil Whitt, Eugene Whitt, Wilford Christian, and Fred Christian; and grandchildren, Mary Ann Crawford Singleton, Holston Cole, and Bradley Cole. Survivors are: Daughters: Linda Crawford and husband, Paul David of Richlands, Virginia Freda Smith and husband, Johnny of Troutdale, Virginia Carol Effler and husband, Lawrence of King, NC Life Partner: Bobby Rose and his daughter, Connie Cook and husband, Brad and their daughter, Eden Brothers: Harold “Chris” Christian of Spokane, Washington Hubert Whitt and wife, Sharon of Skippack, Pennsylvania Grandchildren: Teri Crawford Brown, Melissa Vicars, Melinda Barber, Curtis Dunford, Chris Dunford, David Cole, William Scott Effler, Stephanie Effler Smith, Jennifer Cole, and Chad Cole. 23 Great Grandchildren 2 Great-Great Grandchildren Special Nieces: Teressa Perkins, Susan Tassey Banda, and Patty Mattice Special Thanks to the nurses and staff of Legacy Hospice. Funeral services for Dorothy Cole will be conducted Sunday, March 27, 2022 at 1pm at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with Pastors Lonnie Perkins and Paul Crawford and Teri Crawford Brown officiating. Interment will follow at the Cole Family Cemetery on Bearwallow. Grandsons and Great Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
