Dorothy Gilbert Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Dorothy Gilbert, age 92, of Jewell Ridge, Virginia, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at the home of her special niece and caregiver, Doris and Darrell Miller. She was born in Red Ash, Virginia on May 24, 1930 and was the daughter of the late Walter and Martha Hill Lankford. She was a lifelong resident of the Jewell Ridge area and was an employee of the King Kone in Richlands for many years having been a dedicated worker and friend of the Williamson family. She was of the Pentecostal faith and thankful to God for being good to her all of her life. She looked forward everyday at 4:00pm so she could watch the Andy Griffith Show….to which she always said, “They are just reruns!” In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Cecil P. Gilbert; sister, Helen French; brothers, Curtis and James Lankford; special niece, Sue Hess. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Survivors are: Stepchildren: Rhonda Compton and husband, Randy; Cindy White and husband, Wesley; Daniel Gilbert and wife, Teena; Robert Gilbert and wife, Sharon; and Dean Gilbert Special Niece: Dorothy Miller and husband, Louis and family Nephews: Wayne French and Claude French Several nieces and nephews also survive. A private graveside service will be held at Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia.
