Douglas MacArthur Steele

Douglas MacArthur Steele, age 78, of Cedar Bluff, Virginia, passed away Sunday, March 27, 2022 in a Charlottesville, Virginia hospital following a sudden illness. He was born in Tazewell County and was the son of the late William, Sr. and Pansy Leona Bandy Steele. Doug was a lifelong resident of the area and was a retired car salesman. He was a member of Raven Assembly of God Church in Raven, Virginia and was a Richlands High School Class of 1963 graduate. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Simmons Steele; and brothers, Vinson Steele and William Steele, Jr. Survivors are: Daughter: Melissa Muir and husband, Sam of Cedar Bluff, Virginia Sisters: Shirley Rust of Johnson City, TN Peggy Hawthorne of Atlanta, GA Katye Ramey of Cedar Bluff, VA Bonnie Niemi of Bristol, VA Brothers : Bud Steele and wife, Joan of Knoxville, MD Jim Steele and wife, Judy of Bristol, VA Sisters In Law: Yvonne Monk of Bristol, VA Mary Ruth Steele of Cedar Bluff, VA Linda Steele of Cedar Bluff, VA Funeral services for Douglas M. Steele will be conducted Friday, April 1, 2022, at 1 pm at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with Rev. Joe Copolo, Rev. Doug Johnson, and Rev. Dennis White officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be; Shane Steele, Logan Steele, Todd Steele, Anthony Steele, Jeff Farmer, Bryant Garrett, and Marty Garrett officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be; Landon Altizer, Sonny Farmer, Eddie Brown, “Foxy” Kenneth Reynolds, Dale Moore, Harold Charles, Dickie Plaster, and Billy Bandy.
