Ella Beavers

Ella Osborne Beavers age 93, of Baptist Valley in Cedar Bluff passed away on Thursday, October 21, 2021, at the home of her daughter, Joyce Wess in Baptist Valley, Virginia. Ms. Beavers was born and raised in Buchanan County, Virginia, and was the daughter of the late Melvin and Myrtle Osborne, of Mendota, Virginia. Ella was a retired seamstress from Eastern Isles, she was very proud of her overly large garden from which she would always have a bountiful harvest and then would spend weeks canning and preserving. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends and loved when her family all got together for a big dinner. Ella would tell people all the time, “I don’t know about them girls but I’ve got 3 good sons-in-law,” and she did, they were so good to her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Junior Beavers, and 2 daughters, Janice Barnett and Joan Helton; brother, Ramie Osborne; sisters, Dorothy Osborne and Pinkie Osborne and nephew, Steve Osborne. She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Wess, and her husband, Jerry of Baptist Valley, VA. Two sons-in-law: Ed Barnett of Baptist Valley, VA Harold Helton of Piney Flats, TN Sister, Lovis Hiles of Long Grove, IL Five grandchildren, JaTana Harrison and husband George, Jerry Wess and wife, Christine, Jill Absher and husband, Charlie, Melanie Johnson and husband, Mike, and Jeff Barnett and wife, Kim. Eleven great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren. Several special nephews and nieces that she loved so dearly and a host of friends. Two special men in her life that she loved, Tim Gills and Albert Vencill. Special thanks to Legacy Hospice and Palliative Care and the City on the Hill Church. The funeral service for Ms. Ella Beavers will be at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Bobby Laney and Rev. Barry Absher officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Trey Wess, Race Absher, Jerry Wess, Freddie Cochran, Mike Johnson, and George Harrison. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tim Gills, Albert Vencill, Ronnie Blankenship, Tommy Blankenship, and Ranny Blackburn. The family will begin receiving friends on Wednesday beginning at noon until the time of service.
