Ellis Harmon

Clyde James Ellis Harmon, age 49, of Cedar Bluff, Virginia, passed away Sunday, January 23, 2022 in Blacksburg, Virginia. Ellis was born in Richlands, Virginia on December 9, 1972 and was the son of James and Ruby Vandyke Harmon of the Bearwallow section of Jewell Ridge, Virginia. He graduated from New Hope Academy in 1990 and was a loving spouse, father, son, and grandson. He was the greatest friend a person could have. If you knew him, you knew there was nothing he wouldn’t do for you. He was the master “fixer.” If it broke, he could repair it. If it didn’t run, he would have it going in a few seconds. If it was missing a part, he found that part, maybe not the correct one, but it would work good as new again. Ellis loved kids. He loved watching baseball and basketball. It didn’t matter to him if he won a single game, just as long as the kids had a good time. Ellis loved spending time with his family. He loved to hunt, ride side by sides, fish, ride his Harley Davidson, and anything else just to be with his family. He was always the master griller, so he never turned down a good cookout opportunity. Ellis was a current employee of G&R Gas Services. He was preceded in death his paternal grandmother, Frances Harmon; paternal grandfather, Clyde Harmon; maternal grandfather, Raymond Ellis Vandyke; and sister, Teresa Lynn Harmon Tegeler. Funeral services for Ellis Harmon will be conducted Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at 7pm at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Barry Absher officiating. Interment will be Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 11am at Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Those wishing to attend are asked to be at the funeral home by 1030am Thursday morning. Pallbearers will be: Jake Harmon, Rick Lawson, Greg Bostic, Chris Stacy, James Higgins, Raymond Vandyke, Wayne Shelton, and Cort Meade. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Logan Vandyke, Conner Martin, Colton Hartsock, Tyler Perkins, Dexter Harman, Michael Keen, Jeff Turner, Austin Bonney, Morgan Bonney, and David Woody.
