Proverbs 31: 28-30 “Her children arise up and call her blessed, her husband also praiseth her, many daughters have done virtuously, but she excellest them all, favor is deceitful and beauty is vain but a woman that fearest the Lord she shall be praised.” Frieda Combs Brewster, age 91 of Newhall, WV went to be with her Lord early Thursday morning, November 11, 2021, after fighting a long battle with cancer since April 2016. Born October 12, 1930 she was a daughter of the late William James Combs and Alice Rose Lewis Combs. She loved to read her Bible every day and work crossword puzzles. Frieda was a member of the Newhall Bible Church, where she served as treasurer, Sunday School Secretary, custodian and taught Vacation Bible School. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ambrose Brewster, one son, Michael Lee Brewster; three grandsons, Eric Williamson, Michael Scott Brewster and James Altizer; five brothers, William James Combs, Jr., Bernie Combs, Dewey Combs, Harold Combs and Cecil Combs; two sisters, Leota Fishking and Dolly Smith. Those who survive to cherish her memory include two daughters, Lucy Darlene Williamson of the home and Tammy Lynn Kimberlin of Tazewell, VA; one son, Lt. Col David Brewster and wife, Leah of Inman, SC; six grandchildren, Tanya Williamson and Eddie of Powhatan, VA, Krystal Brewster Kikta of St. Walton Beach, FL; Lauren Brewster of Houston, TX, Jack Brewster and Ryan Brewster of Inman, SC and Rhea Altizer, Jr. and wife, Mary of Baptist Valley, VA; eight great-grandchildren, Jaida Williamson of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, Amari Thompson and Rylee McDaniel of Powhatan, VA, Ashley Graham and husband, Shannon of Baptist Valley, VA, CW3 Grant Altizer and wife, Sabrina of Cameron, NC, Courtney Altizer of Bluefield, VA, Aidan and Jacob; four great-great grandchildren, Austin and Carlie Graham of Baptist Valley, VA, Kylie and Carson Altizer of Cameron, NC.; one brother, Randy Combs of Columbus, OH; one sister, Patty Gates and husband, Roger of Chattanooga, TN; special cats, Chloe and Zoey; many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends also survive. The family would like to thank the nurses of Amedisys Hospice for their care in caring for Mrs. Brewster in her final days. Funeral Services for Mrs. Brewster will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Tazewell, VA with Pastor Chris White officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, WV. Family members and friends will serve as Pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 16, 2021.
