Garland E. "Dude" Palmer Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Garland E. “Dude” Palmer, age 75 of Mill Creek Rd. in Raven, Virginia was surrounded by his loving family at his home, as he closed his eyes for the last time on Friday, November 29, 2019. He was born October 16, 1944 in Raven, Virginia and was the son of the late Walter Robert Palmer and Mabel Virginia Dye Palmer. Garland dedicated his life to caring for his family, working 34 years in the coal mines to provide for them. He was a member of the UMWA and a lifelong resident of the area. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Marie Palmer, two sisters and three brothers. Those who remain on carry on his spirit are his: Two Daughters: Kathy Marie Blevins and husband, Michael of White Top, VA Melissa Ann Miller and husband, Danny of Swords Creek, VA One Son, Aubrey Eugene Palmer and wife, Melissa of Wytheville, VA Sister, Lois Hays of Raven, VA Grandchildren, Misty Miller, Kristy Miller, Ethan Eugene Hubbard, Amber Palmer and Ashley Palmer Great granddaughter, Alexis Anderson The funeral service for Garland Palmer will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Dennis White and Rev. Terry Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, Virginia. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 12:00pm at the funeral home until time of service.
