George Hubbard Cole

George Hubbard Cole, age 80, of Cedar Bluff, Virginia, went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, April 9, 2020 following a lengthy illness. He was born May 21, 1939 in Jewell Ridge, Virginia and was the son of the late John Herstey Cole and Willard Emiline Nelson Cole. George had dedicated his life to caring for his family. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a miner, coal truck driver and a proud member of the UMWA Jewell Ridge Local #7327. George loved to sing God’s praises for over 30 years on his WGTH broadcast, “Share The Word With A Believer.” His goal was to share the “Good News” of God’s love and salvation. He was a lifelong resident of the surrounding area. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Gladie Janell Elswick, Juanita Alva Crawford, Virgie Mae Cole; brothers, Donald Lee Cole and Thomas Newton Cole. Those who remain to carry on his spirit are his: Loving Wife of 58 years, Nona Chaffins Cole of Cedar Bluff, VA Daughters: Tonya Vance and husband, Jack of Cedar Bluff, VA Tina McReynolds and husband, Charles of Abingdon, VA Tiffany Rose and husband, Heath of Pounding Mill, VA Son, George H. Cole, Jr., and wife. Ora of North Tazewell, VA Brother, Homer H. Cole and wife, Joan of Bearwallow, VA Sisters-in-law, Ella Jean Cole and Maybelle Cole Brother-in-law, Jack Elswick Grandchildren: Jack Vance and wife, Kerra; Jillian Nicole Vance; Blake Cole and fiancé Kelsey Keen; Zac Cole and wife, Jasmine; Emilee Woodard and husband, Corin; Laken Smith and husband, Jesse; Aaron McReynolds and wife, Megan; and Jacob McReynolds and wife, Michaela. Great Grandchildren, Wesley, Bradley, Kenzie, Titus, Lydia, Silas, Ezekiel, Forrest, Mary Grace, Mia and Annistyn Special Friends, Phillip Horton and wife, Carolyn, Naomi Ray , Virginia Gillespie Special thanks to Legacy Hospice and Interim Home Health. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, a private family funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2020 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Phillip Horton officiating. Interment will follow at the Cole Family Cemetery on Bearwallow near Jewell Ridge. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
