Jake Leonard Jackson

July 11, 1945 - April 2, 2021

Jake Leonard Jackson, age 75, of Pounding Mill, Virginia, passed away at his home on Friday, April 2, 2021. He was born July 11, 1945 in Richlands, Virginia and was the son of the late Luther Jackson and Lena Cooper Jackson. Jake was a graduate of Richlands High School Class of 1964. He had dedicated his life to caring for his family, he worked many years in the mines and was a member of the UMWA Local# 7327 of Jewell Ridge. Jake was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He enjoyed cutting wood, mowing, and riding his side by side. Jake loved attending church and was a member of the City on a Hill Church. He was a lifelong resident of the area. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Edna Wender. Those that remain to carry on his loving spirit are his: Loving wife, Betty S. Keen Jackson of Pounding Mill, VA Daughter, Tammy Jackson Hale and husband, Jerry Hale of Richlands, VA Son, Kenny Jackson and wife, Sheila of Raven, VA Sister, Betty Smith of Jewell Ridge, VA Brothers: Jimmy Jackson of Raven, VA Harold Jackson of Pounding Mill, VA Grandchildren: Brett Jackson and wife, Jessica of Raven, VA Brianna Jackson of Raven, VA Several nieces, nephews, family, and a host of friends also survive along with his special canine companions, Bella and Bubba. Special thanks to his son-in-law Jerry, who was big part of his life. A funeral service will be conducted at 12:00pm on Monday, April 5, 2021 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands with the Rev. Barry Absher officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Brett Jackson, Mark Smith, Danny Smith, Tim Smith, Keith Smith, Steve Stiltner and Raymond Jackson. Honorary Pallbearers are Jerry Hale, Lloyd Dunford, Fred “Casey” Sayers. The family will begin receiving friends at 11:00 am at the funeral home until time of service.
