James McKinley Graham

September 11, 1939 - March 11, 2022

James McKinley Graham, age 82, passed away peacefully and went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in Baptist Valley on Friday, March 11, 2022. Mr. Graham was born on September 11, 1939, in North Tazewell, Virginia and was the son of the late William G. Graham and Rose Stevenson Graham of North Tazewell, VA. He served his county in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and he was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #9640. Mr. Graham was a 36 year employee of Appalachian Power and was self-employed master electrician. He was a lifelong resident of the Baptist Valley area. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Sally Sparks Graham, the mother of his son; brothers, William Graham, Jr, Jackie Barrett, and George Graham; and a sister, Shirley Hart. He is survived by: Son: James C. Graham and wife, Jackie of North Tazewell, VA Grandsons: Kenneth Holmes and girlfriend, Rachel of Dayton, OH Ian Craig Graham of Atlanta, GA Brothers: Walter Graham of San Antonio, TX John Michael Graham and wife, Barbara of York, PA Second Wife, Brenda Graham of North Tazewell, VA Brenda Graham’s Children: Jr. Altizer and Robbie Beavers Brenda Graham’s Grandchildren: Robert Beavers, Laura Beavers, Daniella Beavers, Grant Altizer and Ashley Graham and Great Grandchildren. Special Friends: Donnie Linkous and wife, Carla of North Tazewell, VA Little Jess Peery of North Tazewell, VA Special caregivers whom Mr. Graham, his son and daughter-in-law, truly loved; Kim Cleaver of Tazewell, VA; Patty Sinkford of Tazewell, VA; Briana Ervin of Honaker, VA; Debra Hilton of Honaker, VA and Amanda Dye of Honaker, VA. A special thanks to Legacy Hospice and their amazing staff, who provided Mr. Graham with such amazing hospice care. Funeral services for James McKinley Graham will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Monday, March 14, 2022 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Kenney Fields officiating. Entombment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers. Members of the Casey-Shortt VFW Post #9640 will conduct military graveside rites. The Graham family will receive friends from 1-2 pm on Monday afternoon at the funeral home.
