Jerry Giles Richardson

Jerry Giles Richardson, age 72, of Pounding Mill, Virginia, passed away at his home on Tuesday, September 21, 2021. Jerry was born February 25, 1949 in Bluefield, West Virginia and was the son of the late Rudolph H. Richardson and Florine O. Ray Richardson. He had graduated from Big Creek High School in War, WV, and graduated from Marshall University with a degree as an Accountant. He worked in the administration and accounting offices at Island Creek Coal Company and later retired from Consol Energy. He then returned to work at Central Coal Company offices located in Bristol for several years before finally deciding to enjoy his retirement. His greatest passion was his love for electric trains, he collected them, attended train shows and spent many hours tinkering with the trains. He enjoyed gardening, and landscaping, his yard was always perfectly cared for and full of colors. Even his pet poodle loved to ride in his lap as he mowed. He was an animal lover and adored caring for his pets. Jerry had been a loving husband, father, brother, and friend. He had attended the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Claypool Hill and will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lois Ann Carter Richardson. Those that remain to carry on his spirit are his son, Jeremy Scott Richardson and his wife Eva Marie of Cedar Bluff, Virginia; brother, Dennis Rudolph Richardson and wife, Donna of Tazewell, Virginia. A host of family and friends also survive. The funeral service for Jerry Richardson will be at 2:00 pm on Monday, September 27, 2021 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Tazewell, with the Rev. Carl Howell officiating. Interment will follow at the Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, Virginia. Family and Friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Monday, at the funeral home beginning at 1:00 pm until time of service.
