John Allen Lee

John Allen Lee, age 86 a former resident of Richlands, Virginia passed away on Friday, April 3, 2015 in a Chattanooga, Tennessee care facility. He was born in Richlands, Virginia and was the son of the late William and Lillie Lowe Lee. He attended Richlands High School and later went on to serve his country in the US Army in Germany as a Military Policeman. John relocated to Los Angeles California and went to work for Lockheed Aircraft for the next 42 years. He was a railroad enthusiast and collector and over the years had obtained a large collection of railroad memorabilia. John was a member of the Glendale Railroad Museum Society, the Organ Symphonic Association of Los Angeles and the La Crescenta Historical Society in California. He donated his railroad collection to the Mount Lowe Preservation Society; and his railroad photographic slides were donated to Joe Bonino of Glendale, CA. He had resided in the Los Angeles area for 57 years. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, James Lee and a sister, Barbara Lee Lewis, nephews, Robert Allen Taylor and Darrell David Taylor. Those who survive him are: Nieces: Teresa Taylor of Chattanooga, TN Cynthia Bentley of Pounding Mill, VA Nephews: Rodney Taylor and wife Barbara of Jewell Ridge, VA Jeffrey Lee Lewis and wife Patricia Ann of Cedar Bluff, VA Rick Gregg and wife Chris of Clanton, AL Edward Lee and wife, Sharon of Louisville, KY Cousins: Dora Nell Basham and husband, Alex; Jamie Basham; Rebecca McEver and husband, Matt; Morris Lee and wife, Joan; and Bill Wheeler. Funeral services for John Allen Lee will be conducted at 2:00 pm, Monday, April 6, 2015 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Lonnie Perkins officiating. Interment will follow at the Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery in Richlands, Virginia. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers. Military Rites will be conducted by the Casey-Shortt VFW Post# 9640. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 PM until time of service at 2:00pm.
