Kenneth Elroy Harold

October 16, 1944 - June 7, 2022

Kenneth Elroy Harold, age 77, of Bluefield West Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, after a long and heartbreaking battle with dementia. Kenneth was born on October 16, 1944, he was the son of the late Eugene and Grace Wood Harold of Tazewell, VA. Ken had lived in many areas of Virginia, including Manassas, Salem, Radford, and Pulaski, but spent most of his life in the Tazewell County area. For nearly 20 years, he has been married to his precious wife, Debra Harold, who has been by his side and cared for him through the treacherous storm that is dementia with both a caring hand and a steadfast spirit. Her gentle care and the love of his very special pet, Bandit, were the heart of his home. In addition to his parents, Ken is proceeded in death by his brother, Marvin "Bobby" Harold, of Lavergne, TN, his brother, William "Sonny" Harold of Middletown, DE; his infant grandson, Sam Spangler, of Front Royal; precious grandson, Joshie Null. He is survived by his loving wife, Debra Harold, of the home, brother, Dean Harold, and wife, Susie of Clermont, FL; brother, David Harold, and companion, Beverly of Tazewell; brother, Walter "Beady" Harold of Tazewell; daughter, Kathy Smith and husband, Richard of Tazewell; daughter, Sandy Hill and husband, Russell of Sumerduck, VA; daughter, Kina Jenkins and husband, Robert of Bristow, VA; daughter, Karen Spangler of Front Royal, VA, and daughter, Kendra Shelton, and husband, Keith of Richlands, VA. Additional survivors include step-daughter, Tara Null and husband, Larry; and stepson Adam Clark. Fifteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren also survive. Ken loved antiques and cars and loved to refurbish and sell both. He was a gifted carpenter and loved taking long rides in the Thompson Valley and Cove areas where he had grown up. He was a great storyteller and had a story for every curve, field, and homestead in the area. He could work for a circle around men half his age. Ken could fix anything and enjoyed spending time with friends and family at the Moose Lodge. He loved more than anything to make people laugh. He enjoyed gospel music, had a beautiful bass voice, played harmonica, and knew a great deal of scripture. He was a private person about spiritual matters but believed in his heart that "God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son that WHOSOEVER believed in Him would not perish but have everlasting life." He was at peace with the Lord. The funeral service for Kenneth Harold will be at 2:00 pm on Friday, June 10, 2022, at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Tazewell, Virginia with Pastor James Nunley officiating. Interment will follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Thompson Valley. Pallbearers will be Richard Smith, Cory Alicie, Jarred Alicie, Adam Clark, Keith Shelton, and Larry Null, Jr. The family will receive friends beginning at 12;00 pm on Friday until the time of service.
