Margaret Louise Endicott

Margaret L. Endicott, 77, of Cedar Bluff, VA passed away peacefully to her heavenly home on Saturday June 8th, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Buchanan County, VA to Ezra Maze Horne and Nannie Bell (Lowe) Horne. Margaret was a member of the Richlands Tabernacle for 45 years and taught the Senior Girls’ Sunday School class for many of those years. She was a bookkeeper for Grassy Branch Coal and other coal companies for most of her working years. Margaret was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend, she dedicated her life to the Lord and her family. She had a love of gardening and grew many types of vegetables and flowers and had a prized grapevine from which she provided the family with delicious grape preserves and grape juice. She also enjoyed bird watching and observing the majesty of the Clinch Mountain which stood watch over her little home for nearly half a century. After a serious health crisis over 40 years ago, when her girls were very young, she prayed that the Lord would allow her to live long enough to raise her children. The Lord honored that request by allowing her to not only raise her girls, but to help raise her grandchildren and her great grandchildren too. Margaret said many times that when we’re in trouble, if we’ll simply pray “Jesus, Jesus, Jesus” He’ll be there to help us by the third time we repeat His precious name and will reveal his holy presence to us. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Loma Boyd, Hazel Boyd, Elsie Childress, Otis Horne, and Beverly Horne. Her surviving siblings are Mavis Horne and husband, Ira, and James Horne and wife, Ruth, all of Cedar Bluff, VA, and sister-in-law, Emma Horne of Dunn, NC. Children and grandchildren left to cherish her memory are daughters, Freda Doggett and husband, Jim, of Oxford, GA and Debbie Ratliff and husband, Larry, of Cedar Bluff, VA. Grandchildren are Brandon Keene and wife, Leslie, of Suffolk, VA; Brent Doggett and wife, Telina, of Mobile AL; Lauren Bishop and husband, Robert, of Oxford, GA; Joshua Ratliff and wife, Valerie, of Seneca, SC; Seth Ratliff and wife, Olivia, of Bristol, VA; and Isaac Ratliff of Johnson City, TN. Great grandchildren are Amelia Grace Keene, Allison Faith Keene, Macie Jane Ratliff, Olivia Katherine Doggett, Sadie Grace Ratliff, Alexander James Bishop, Charlie Graham Ratliff and Robert Gilleon Bishop. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In the last few years, her special, four-legged, furry friend, Evie, has filled her days with happiness and companionship. Funeral services for Margaret L. Endicott will be Thursday, June 13th, 2019 at 11am at the Richlands Tabernacle with Rev. Phillip Horton, Rev. Roger Boyd and Rev. Joshua Ratliff officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, VA. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 12th, 2019, from 6pm to 9pm at the Richlands Tabernacle. Pallbearers will be Kevin McGlothlin, Tyler McGlothlin, Todd McGlothlin, Steve Coleman, Mark Ratliff and Dave Horne.
