Margaret Viola Wimmer

Margaret “Viola” Wimmer, age 92, of Jennings, FL. formally from Tazwell, Virginia passed away Sunday April 3rd, 2022, at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, Georgia. Viola was born on May 1st, 1929, in Buchannan County, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Oliver Keen and Mary Cannie Sadie Jones Keen of Whitewood, Virginia. Viola made her home in the Thompson Valley area of Tazewell, Virginia. Viola was an avid gardener and loved working in her flowers. She was an amazing cook and loved to make quilts by hand. Her knowledge of the mountain life that she passed down to so many, will be precious memories to all that knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband David Eulis Wimmer and son-in-law Gilmer Eugene Monk Jr (Gene). One brother Willie Keen, sisters Beatrice Hagerman, Dorothy Lambert, Nancy Wimmer and Rosa Jones. One great-great granddaughter Winslon Eve Monk. She is survived by her children David R. Wimmer, of the home. Daughter Margaret G. Monk of Jennings, Florida. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Gilmer E Monk III and wife, Melissa of Belton, Texas and Margaret Clarissa Monk Chambers and husband William of North Tazwell, Virginia. Additional survivors include her great grandchildren Christopher Chambers and wife Shauna of Tazwell, Virginia. Zachary Chambers and wife Tabitha of Tazewell, Virginia. Cody Monk and wife Kristan of Troy, Texas. Amber Hoffman and husband Austin of Austin, Texas. Mrs. Wimmer is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and great grandchildren. Funeral services for Margaret “Viola” Wimmer will be conducted at 2:00pm on Sunday, April 10, 2022, at Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia. Interment will be at the Greenhill Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, Virginia. Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers. The Wimmer family will receive friends from 12-2pm on Sunday afternoon at the funeral home.
