Marie Lepsie Haywood Steele

Marie Lepsie Haywood Steele age 76 of Richlands, Virginia went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 4, 2020 at Johnston Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness. Marie was born April 17, 1943 in Richlands, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Ernest Fields and Ethel Marie Helton Fields. She was a cafeteria worker for many years for the Tazewell County School System. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Marie loved spending time with her family, and quilting, she sewed her love and prayers into every stitch. Marie was a devoted Christian and spent many years teaching about God’s salvation. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy and was a lifetime resident of the area. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, George Cecil Haywood; second husband, Rev. Carl Edward Steele; daughter, Wanda Haywood White; son, Jerry Cecil Haywood; several brothers and sisters. Those who remain to carry on her loving spirit are her: Sons: Randy Haywood and wife Lisa of Claypool Hill, VA Ricky Haywood and wife, Rebecca of Claypool Hill, VA Jeff Haywood and wife, Stephanie of Richlands, VA Stepdaughter, Barbara Cionetti and husband, Peter of Olathe, Kansas Stepson, Steve Steele of Dallas, Texas Sister, Barbara Johnson and husband, Carl of Richlands, VA Granddaughters, Natasha Jones, Kaitlin Haywood Grandsons, Ricky Clayton Haywood Jr., Matthew Haywood, Aaron Haywood, Chris Haywood, Cameron Haywood and Ethan Haywood. Several great grandchildren and a host of family and friends. The graveside service for Marie Haywood Steele will be conducted on Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at the Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, Virginia with the Rev. Dennis McLemore officiating the committal. Sons and grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Due to the COVID-19 Virus restrictions, the family will go in procession to the cemetery, and remain at their vehicles as the committal service ensues. A public memorial service will be held in her honor at a later date.
