Marilyn LaVonne Morris Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Marilyn LaVonne Morris, age 86, of Richlands, VA, passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2022 at a hospital in Charleston, WV. Marilyn was born on April 24, 1936, in Sharon, WV and was the daughter of the late James E. and Nina T. Gillam Adkins. Marilyn had spent most of her life in the Richlands area and was the current pastor at Whittaker Ridge Assembly of God. She was a graduate of Morris Harvey College Class of 1958 where she received her bachelor’s degree in both English and Music. She was retired from the Tazewell County Public School System. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Stanley John Morris; and her brother, Ivan Jay Adkins. She was a last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by: Her Daughters: Sara Elaine Kirk and husband, Michael of Chesapeake, WV Nina Lavonne Saeli and husband, Jeffrey of Locke, NY Son: James Stanley Morris of Richmond, VA Eight Grandchildren: Johnathen Knuckles, Joel Santos, Rachel Santos, Michael Santos, Kaitlyn Morris, John Paul Morris, Emma Rose Morris, and Anna Marie Morris Five Great Grandchildren: Carson, Caden, Hunter, Faith and Henley A host of family and friends also survive. Funeral services for Marilyn Lavonne Morris will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Sunday, July 10, 2022 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, VA with the Rev. Richard Blevins officiating. A private interment will follow at Whittaker Ridge Cemetery near Bandy, VA. Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers. The Morris family will receive friends from 12-2 pm on Sunday afternoon at the funeral home prior to the funeral.
