Mary Jane Mitchell Brewster

Mary Jane Mitchell Brewster, age 76 of Bluefield, VA died Tuesday, April 14, 2020 at her home. She was born October 2, 1943 in North Tazewell, VA and was a daughter of the late Arthur Mitchell, Sr. and Erie Johnson Mitchell. Mrs. Brewster loved her Church and was a member of the Living Water Fellowship at Midway, WV and touched the lives of many people during her personal ministry. She enjoyed working in her flower beds and gardening, bird watching, reading and working crossword puzzles. She was a wonderful example of a Christian wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was greatly loved and will be missed by her family and all who knew her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Brewster, Sr.; four sisters, Rosa Booth, Alma Evans, Alice Zulauf, and Maybell Waldron; five brothers, Arthur Mitchell, Jr., Thomas Mitchell, Roy Mitchell, J.C. Mitchell and Otis Mitchell; special sister/niece, Frankie Singleton. She was the last surviving member of her family. Those who survive to cherish her memory include her children, James W. Brewster, Jr. and wife, Annette of Coral Springs, FL, Joseph Brewster and wife, Michele of Falls Mills, VA and Jennifer Brewster Wood and husband, Jonathan of Troutville, VA; Eight grandchildren, Megan, Cindy and Kaylee Brewster, Joseph Brewster, Jr., Sara Beth Stafford, John Brewster, Andrew Wood and Sophia Wood; great-grandchild, Lilly Brewster; a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends also survive. Due to the Corona / COVID 19 pandemic, the family will have a graveside service for Mrs. Brewster at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 17, 2020 at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA. In compliance with the order of Governor Northam, social distancing must be observed during the service.
