Michael Wayne Hess Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Michael Wayne Hess, 60, of Manassas, VA passed away unexpectantly, but peacefully, in his sleep on the morning of July 30, 2022. Michael Wayne Hess (Mike) was born on December 13, 1961, in Richlands, VA, the son of the late Joe Hess and Geneva Dye Hess. He grew up in Richlands, VA, and graduated from Tazewell High School, Tazewell, VA in the class of 1980. He married Connie Wilson Hess on June 27, 1981, where they had one son Jeremy Wayne Hess on January 11, 1982. Mike relocated to Northern Virginia a couple of years later where he worked in the construction field as a tradesman before starting his own company in the late 80s and he went on to be a very successful business owner. He met Kelly Myers in 1999 and raised her son Ben Myers as his own. In 2014 he met the love of his life Karen King and they shared 8 wonderful years together. Mike lived life to the fullest. Everything he did in life he did with passion and drive that developed at a very young age. He worked hard and played hard. He never met a stranger and had so many friends. He had a way of making everyone he met feel special. He was always the life of the party and could light up any room he walked into. He loved his family and friends, coaching, bluegrass music, cornhole, football, riding four-wheelers, motorcycles, and much more. Mike is survived by his partner in life Karen King of Manassas, VA and his sons Jeremy Hess of Manassas, VA, and Ben Myers of Fredericksburg, VA, granddaughters Savannah and Emma, and Baby Paislee who is expected to arrive in the coming weeks, his brother Manuel (Ann) Breedlove of Green Up, KY, sisters Nancy (Jerry) Boyd of Little Mountain, SC, Teresa (Dave) Goodie of Bristol, VA and Lisa Hess of Raven, VA and nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother and father. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the charity of your choice. Funeral Services for, Michael Wayne Hess will be held, Monday, August 8, 2022, at 1:00 PM, at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in, Richlands, Virginia with Rev. Mike Altizer officiating. Burial will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens, in Claypool Hill Virginia Friends may call on Sunday evening from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Randy Breedlove, Jamey Whited, Alex Branch, Collin Branch, Cecil “Richie” Richardson, Greg Smith, Tim Hess, and Don Hagy, will serve as pallbearers.
