Nola "Blondie" Fern Sharp Gross, age 85 of Leesville, South Carolina, formerly of Swords Creek, Virginia passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2022. Nola was born in Russell County, Virginia on April 25, 1937, and was the daughter of the late Columbus Ferdon Sharp and Maggie Mae Stanford Sharp. Nola worked as an industrial seamstress at the Eastern Isle Sewing factory, was a dedicated member of the Ladies Auxiliary division of the Casey-Shortt VFW Post# 9640, Tazewell County Chapter #31 of the Disabled Veterans and the Rebekah’s Lodge. Nola was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Andy Gross, Jr.; companion of 45 years, Paul Christian; Son, Gary Wayne Gross; daughter, Beverly Ann Brown; brothers, Lee Sharp, John Sharp, Samuel Sharp, Henry Sharp, Andrew Sharp; sisters, Nannie Gross, Helen Christian, Lou McGlothlin, Mattie Elswick, Annie Bell Boyd, Gladys White; daughter-in-law, Rosemary Gross Those that remain to carry on her spirit are her: Children: Cheryl Arnold Hale and spouse, Michelle of Princeton, WV Andy Gross III and wife, Susan of Barboursville, VA Jerry Gross and companion, Gary Bailey of Leesville, SC William Arnold and wife, Renee of Whitmire, SC Barbara Johnson and husband, Gene of Leesville, SC Daughter-n-law, Luanne Gross of Newberry, SC Son-in-law, Scott Brown of Richlands, VA 17 Grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild. Special caregiver whom she loved like a son, Gary Bailey Four legged babies, Tater and Mater Grandchildren she loved like her own children, Cody Brown and Nicole Brown. The funeral service for Nola Gross will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Dennis White and Rev. Scotty Perkins officiating. Interment will follow at the Christian Cemetery on Robinson Ridge near Swords Creek. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Friday evening beginning at 6:00 pm at the funeral home.
